As a digital school. Kingswood Community College places a high value on digital literacy and online safety. We firmly believe these should go hand in hand. Students should be equipped not only with the skills to use the iPad but with the experience and knowledge to safely navigate the online world. As part of our commitment to instilling these skills, we take-part in Webwise's annual Safer Internet Day campaign.
For this, we run a week of activities around online safety and digital citizenship. We enter our work in the Webwise national Post Primary competition. To date, Kingswood Community College has won ‘Best Use of Technology’ 2020 and highly commended in 'Best Over-All Campaign' 2019. We also have two TY students who sit on the Webwise Youth Panel and act as our Safer Internet ambassador, one of whom also represented our school on the RTE show News2Day discussing internet safety.
At Kingswood Community College, we are committed to ensuring our students use the iPad and digital technology to access and display their learning in innovative ways but above all to do so thoughtfully and safely.
