You Can, We Can

At Kingswood Community College, Technology Enhanced Learning is at the heart of how our students develop. To enable this, we as a school chose the iPad as the learning tool best suited to enhancing this learning. Schoology, is the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) that we operate through with learning content.

To support students in this task, first years are given 1 period a week to improving their IT skills. In this, students develop their creativity with Apple's Everyone Can Create course:

Across the range of work covered here, students develop creativity skills that they can apply to the presentation of their learning in the form of:

Movies
Drawings
Images
Music

These skills also tie in with the schools Universal Design for Learning (UDL) methodologies.

The Digital Leaders are a team selected from the student body. There are selected on the basis of:

IT Skill
Character
Work Ethic

The team leads many IT based initiatives and act as a support to staff and students alike with IT issues. In the past 2 years, they have won high praise nationally for their efforts in promoting Safer Internet Day. Each first year group is assigned a Digital Leader liaison.
